Bats at the Castle

We are glad to announce that “Bats at the Castle” are back! After hibernation, bats are active again, as such the nocturnal visits to S. Jorge Castle to know more about these winged inhabitants have already started! Every saturday, between june and september, open to everyone!

Who we are

BIOTA was founded by Patrícia Rodrigues and Sónia Malveiro in December 2007. In September 2014 a new partner joined, Vitor Rodrigues.

BIOTA is an environmental consulting company specialized in biodiversity, ecosystem services , water ecological quality and environmental flows. These specializing areas are developed on a wide scope, encompassing services such as Environmental baseline studies, Monitoring programs, Minimization and Compensation measures, Training and Communication, among others.

The entrance of a new partner with over 20 years of experience in innovation and information technology, allied to the vast experience in biology gathered by BIOTA places the company in a privileged position for the development of innovative solutions for its target markets.

Measure implementation

BIOTA was the pioneer in Portugal in the translocation of freshwater mussels. BIOTA carried out the Translocation of Freshwater Mussels within the scope of Baixo Sabor dam.

We implement all kind of compensation and minimization measures concerning biodiversity. Our expertise is mostly based on highly experient internal and external teams.
